Overview and Usage:
Tadalafil is a remedy designed for men facing erectile dysfunction, a condition characterized by the inability to attain or sustain a rigid, erect penis suitable for sexual activity.
Belonging to the phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors group, Tadalafil operates by promoting the relaxation of blood vessels in the penis following sexual stimulation. This allows improved blood flow, enhancing erectile function. It’s essential to note that Tadalafil requires sexual stimulation to be effective, emphasizing the need for foreplay with a partner.
Precautions and Considerations:
Before using Tadalafil, refrain from taking it if you are allergic to tadalafil or any components in Tadalafil. Additionally, avoid it if you use organic nitrate or nitric oxide donors, have serious heart disease, experienced a recent heart attack or stroke, have low or uncontrolled high blood pressure, or have a history of vision loss due to non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), often described as a “stroke of the eye.”
Exercise caution if you have heart problems, sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, leukemia, any penis deformities, serious liver or kidney issues, or have undergone pelvic surgery or non-nerve-sparing prostatectomy. If you experience a sudden decrease or loss of vision, discontinue Tadalafil and consult your doctor. Tadalafil is not intended for use by women or adolescents under 18.
Inform your doctor of other medications, particularly nitrates, alpha-blockers, or drugs inhibiting CYP3A4, as they may interact with Tadalafil.
Always follow your doctor’s instructions for Tadalafil usage. The recommended starting dose is one 10 mg tablet before sexual activity, with the option to increase to 20 mg if needed. Tablets are for oral use, swallowed whole with water, and can be taken with or without food. Take a tablet at least 30 minutes before sexual activity, with effectiveness lasting up to 36 hours. Tadalafil does not work without sexual stimulation, necessitating foreplay.
Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as it may impact erection ability and temporarily lower blood pressure. Do not take Tadalafil more than once a day and refrain from continuous daily use.
Possible Side Effects and Storage:
Tadalafil may cause mild to moderate side effects. Common side effects include headache, back pain, muscle aches, facial flushing, nasal congestion, dizziness, and indigestion. Uncommon and rare side effects include allergic reactions, abdominal pain, vision issues, increased sweating, heart-related symptoms, and potential prolonged erections.
Keep Tadalafil out of children’s reach, store it in the original package below 30°C, and protect from moisture. Do not use Tadalafil after the expiry date, and consult your pharmacist for proper disposal methods.
